DESCRIPTION OF WORK
General Statement of Duties: Performs managerial work involving the long
range planning, assigning and organizing of the division's forestry
section, and the mainteaance and security of the divisions grounds,
buildings, vehicles and equipment; performs administrative duties; and
performs related duties as required.
Supervision Received: Works under the general guidance and direction of
a division head.
Supervision Exercised: Exercises within a divfsion general technical
supervision over maintenance, tecYtnical and clerical workers.
TYPICAL DUTIES PERFORMED
The listed examples may not include all the duties performed by all positions
in this class.
Directs the activities of the forestry section.
. Directs all ground maintenance includin� golf courses, parks, playgrounds,
and boulevards.
Directs the Park Shop, equipment maintenance and all building maintenance.
Directs the grounds and building security operations.
Prepares operating reports and advises of inethods to improve maintenance
programs.
Gives direction to the maintenance staff by defining standards and principles
of operation and by establishing program ob�ectives.
Prepares and presents the annual budget far all maintenance of the division,
including support of proposed staff ing pattern and other expenditures.
Conducts staff ineetings, instructs in Division policies and procedures,
and directs the supervisory staff in this activity.
Represents the Division of Parks and Recreation in various civic activities
where public presentation is necessary.
Prepares reports, manuals, and other documents.
Studies and makes recotmnendations.
Confers with other community off icials in the interest of cooperative, wide
objectives of park management or foreatry and reforestation programs.
KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Thorough knowledge of current management and supervisory principles and
procedures.
Thorough knowledge of the theory and techniques related to planning and
directing forestry and maintenance programs.
