The requests of the petition-rofficial City recognition of "Crocus Hill" as a residential street, and installation of a directional street name sign--are long overdue. It has been nearly one hundred years since the first houses on the block were built and adopted Crocus Hill as the street name, with house numbers (originally in the order in which they were built) ; and this, most probably, was before Goodrich Ave. was named. Strangers to the area have trouble finding Crocus Hill houses with no identifying sign; especially with the proximity of Crocus Place with its signs; and this can be crucial for emergency services and the approxi- mately 64 residents on Crocus Hi1L If policy prohibits 3 street signs on the same post at a 4 corner intersection, there are other, nearby lamp and sign posts that wruld do, though much less satisfactory, for a Crocus Hill direction sign. 'I properties abut fram the South on Goodrich - Crocus Hill, but are not affected by these requests, for they front on Crocus Place and are so numbered. The names of all owners affected, in order of signing the petition, follow: (Note: Al1 ZIP codes re 55102.) Edwin S. , & Maxguerite F. Fetcher 12 Crocus Hill Donna L. , & Willia.m S. That segment is Ea.st of Dale St. from the eastern tip of a little paxk to neax the buff and North to the alley between Goodrich and Lincoln Avenues. There axe 15 residences on tha.t segnent, all of which caxry and use Crocus iill street numbers. (The first four houses just East of Dale on the North side of the street use Goodrich numbers, 601 , 607, 613 and 617; and the owners are signatories to this petition.) We further petition the City to install a stret name sign, added to the present Goodrich and Dale signs at that intersection, to designate Crocus Hill to the Ea.st; details of the sign o be determi.ned by the Department of Public ilfarlss in consultation with a representatia of Crocus Hill residents. This pe"ttition is submitted, in part,/urgings from police and fire offieers who have ha.d trouble finding Crocus Hill without a street name sign; and beacuse of confusion with Crocus Plaee, which ha.s signs.
