WHEREAS, Saint Paul is a city with an existing outstanding quality of life,
with a wealth of cultural , heritage, educational , and recreational facilities,
and
WHEREAS, Saint Paul has historically renowned citizens, places and events,
and
WHEREAS, Saint Paul has the advantage of many potential tourists and con-
vention attendees, and
WHEREAS, Saint Paul has many residents who are knowledgeable and curious
about the past history, current events and future usages available to them,
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That an advisory committee be formed, composed of two suitable and
knowledgeable people from each of the seven City Wards and two at-large positions
which represent the educational and historical research sectors of the population,
and one person appointed to chair the committee nominated by the Mayor with the
consent of the Council , given a working life of two years, and charged to:
A) Identify and list famous past and present residents of St. Paul ;
B) Identify and catalog notable landmarks within the city;
C) Identify present and potential St. Paul tourist attractions;
D) Recommend ways to help boost St. Paul to both visitors and residents;
E) Devise a coordinated graphics and plaque program to mark and explain
the city's historic places and determine locations for display;
F) Work with the downtown business people to enlist their support and ideas.
