WHEREAS , the designation of Saint Paul as the site for the
Minnesota World Trade Center is one of the most significant
events and achievements in this city' s history, bringing pride
in Saint Paul to its people; and
WHEREAS , the World Trade Center and accompanying development
will in its phases of acquisition, construction and future opera-
tion provide new employment, substantial new tax base, and contin-
uing new access to business and economic opportunities for all
citizens of Saint Paul ; and
WHEREAS, Mayor George Latimer, by his personal commitment,
initiative and energy, planned and prepared Saint Paul' s winning
proposal , and brought together the private and public sectors to
achieve that goal ; and
WHE T'AS , while many gifted and talented persons , in government
and out, worked long, hard hours on this successful venture, and
are to be commended for that work, Mayor Latimer was the leader
without whose executive talents and reputation the project would
most certainly have fallen short; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Saint Paul,
on its behalf and on behalf of the people of this City, thanks
and wholeheartedly commends Mayor George Latimer for his work in
bringing the World Trade Center to Saint Paul.
