WHEREAS, Gordon Spielman has concluded twelve years of exceptional service to
the community as editor of the Union Advocate, and
WHEREAS, Gordon Spielman has, thorughout his career, given his time, energy and
considerable talents to creative leadership in the labor movement, and
WHEREAS, Gordon Spielman has been honored repeatedly by the International Labor
Press for the excellence of his contributions to labor journalism and has served
as an officer of the International Labor Press Association, and
WHEREAS, Gordon Spielman has contributed to the broader nurturance of excellent
journalism through his efforts in cooperatively founding the Minnesota Press
Council, now therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the City Council of St. Paul does hereby formally acknowledge,
with gratitude, the con�ributions of Gordon Spielman in creative leadership to
labor, in nurturing and sustaining high standards for journalism, and in
enhancing the va�tality and spirit of our community, and be it further
RESOLVED, that we, the City Council of St. Paul, do hereby extend, in behalf of
the citizens of this city, best wishes for a creative, productive, and satisfying
retirement.
