RESOLVED, that the Civil Service Rules be amended by striking from
5ection 32 the class specification for the title of Masonry Inspector, and
by substituting in lieu thereof, the attached class specification for the
title of Masonry Inspector.

General Statement of Duties: Performs skilled inspectional work of masonry
materials and workmanship in new and existing structures for compliance
with and enforcement of building codes and City contract specifications;
and performs related duties as required.
Supervision Received: Works under the general supervision of a senior
inspector.
Supervision Exercised: May assist in training of other building inspectors.
TYPICAL DUTIES PERFORMED
The listed examples may not include all duties performed by all positions
in this class.
Inspects and tests masonry materials and worlananship for compliance with
building codes and City contract specifications.
Investigates complaints of material and worlananship quality.
Issues citations when necessary to enforce compliance with building codes;
may testify in court concerning results of inspections and alleged
violations.
Orders work stoppage until violations of building codes and City contract
specifications are corrected.
Verifies work permits and City certification of persons engaged in masonry
work.
Recommends corrective actions to persons involved in violations.
Prepares records and reports of investigations and violations of building
codes, City contract specifications, work permits and worker certi-
fications.
May assist in designing and administering examinations for City certification
of masons.
KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Considerable knowledge of local, state and federal building codes pertaining
to masonry.
Considerable knowledge of masonry materials and workmanship.
Considerable ability to interpret specifications involving masonry materials

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school or vacational school graduation and the possession of an official
certificate evidencing the completion of an apprenticeship as a bricklayer
and/or stone mason, such as is issued by the State of Minnesota and three
years' experience as a journeyman bricklayer and/or stone mason; or high
school or vocational school graduation and eleven years' experience in brick-
laying and/or stone masonry work, at least seven years of which must have
been as a journeyman bricklayer and/or stone mason. Must possess a valid
Minnesota driver's license.
