RESOLVED, that the Civil Service Rules be amended in Section 3.L, by
inserting the title of EDP Programmer Trainee in Grade 30; and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, the the Civil Service Rules be further amended in
Section 32 by inserting, in proper alphabetical order, the attached class specification
for EDP Programmer Trainee.

General Statement of Duties: Under supervision, to write computer programs
involving the less difficult and complex application; and to perform
related work as assigned.
Supervision Received_: Works under the supervision of a unit head.
Supervision Exercised: None
. TYPICAL DUTIES PERFORMED
The listed examples may not include all duties performed by all positions to
this class.
Codes and tests computer programs.
Prepares block diagram overviews of proposed applications.
Assists in collecting information necessary to create program specifications.
Prepares detailed operating instructions which instruct users in the use of
particular programs. .
Operates data processing machines within the context of developing programs.
KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of computer prograr,uning, testing and debugging.
Knowledge- of data processing equipment and its relationship to computer
use.
Knowledge of modern/current programming techniques.
- The ability to develop written instructions to convey "how to use" the
programs to computer operations as well as the end user.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Successful completion of the course work necessary to earn a diploma in
data processing from St. Paul TVI, Brown Institute or equivalent
institution.
