WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul has been accepted as a city eligible to bid for the
International Inatitute of Municipal Clerks' (IIMC) annual conference in 2005; and
WHEREAS, the IIMC Board of Directora will view presentations from 3 cities on November
16-18, 2000 in Boston, Massachusetts; and
WHEREAS, the conference, if awarded to Saint Paul, will bring an estimated 1100
attendeea who will apend an estimated $990,000 dollars in Saint Paul; and
WHEREAS, City Clerk Fred Owuau and Deputy City Clerk Shari Moore wi11 be presenting to
the IIMC Board; and
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Convention and Viaitor's Bureau is working with the City to
bring the 2005 IIMC Conference to Saint Paul, and would like to give gifta including
round trip airline tickets and Saint Paul 2005 IIMC shirta to the City of Saint Paul for
the Boston trip;
BE IT RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council hereby accepts the gifts from the Saint
Paul Convention and Viaitor's Bureau; and
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council declares the trip a public
purpoae whereby the City officials are allowed to accept the gifts to defray costs for
the City asaociated with the trip.

annual conference. The Convention and Visitors Bureau has offered to pay the cost of the
airline tickets and presentation shirts to help defray costs for the city.
