Whereas, the District 1 Community Council has requested the creation of a special sign
district to provide sign controls that build the identity of the District 1 community; and
Whereas, the District 1 Community Council has prepazed and submitted a special sign
district ordinance for amendment into the zoning code; and
Whereas, Minn. Stat. § 462357, Subd. 4 requires proposed zoning code amendments not
initiated by the planning commission to be first referred to the planing commission for study,
report and recommendation before the proposed amendment is acted upon by the city councll;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Saint Paul,
pursuant to Minn. Stat. § 462.357, Subd. 4, hereby requests the planning commission to study,
report and submit a recommendation concerning the proposed District 1 Community Council
Special Si� District which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference.
