RESOLVED, that the Civil Service Rules be amended in Section 3.8 by striking
out the title of S'torekeeper (Voting Machines) from Grade 27 and by substituting
in lieu thereof the title of Storekeeper - Voting Equipment; and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Civil Service Rules be further amended by striking
from Section 32 the class specification for the title of Storekeeper (Voting Machines)
and substituting in lieu thereof the attached class specification for the title of
Storekeeper - Voting Equipment.

STOREKEEPER - VOTING EQUIPMENT
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
General Statement of Duties: Performs supervisory and mechanical work in
storing, programming and preparing voting equipment for elections; and
performs related duties as required.
Supervision Received: Works under the general supervision of a unit super-
visor.
Supervision F�ercised: Exercises close supervision over temporary employees
involved in the preparation of voting equipment for an election.
TYPICAL DUTIES PERFORMED
The listed examples may not include all duties performed by all positions in
this class.
Stores, maintains and repairs voting equipment.
Programs voting equipment and prepares supplies for elections, including
the rotation of ballots, testing of equipment and all other necessary
work required in the preparation of voting equipment and supplies for
an election.
Inspects, maintains and equips a polling place in each voting precinct in
accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
Prepares supplies for election judges; sorts and repacks supply boxes.
Trains election personnel in the proper procedure for operating voting
equipment.
Coordinates and supervises the delivery of voting equipment to polling
places and the return of the equipment to the warehouse.
Plans, schedules and reviews the work of temporary employees involved in
the programming, preparation, delivery and general maintenance of voting
equipment and supplies.
Receives voting equipment and supplies; maintains inventory and orders
materials and supplies as needed.
Assists in other election functions as directed.
KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Considerable knowledge of the maintenance, repair and set-up of voting
equipment.
Some knowledge of election laws and regulations.
The ability to plan, organize and delegate work and to supervise performance
of that work.
The ability to demonstrate procedures for the correct operation of voting
equipment.
Some knowledge of basic mechanical concepts and skill in the use of hand
and power tools to make minor mechanical repairs and adjustments.
The ability to perform light to moderately heavy physical labor.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Two years' experience in storing, setting-up maintaining and repairing

voting equipment; or two years experience as a Stores Clerk, Clerk III
or equivalent.

Duties and responsibilities:
Under supervision, to be responsible for the storage, delivery,
setting, adjusting and repair of the City's voting machines;
to supervise subordinates; and to perform related work as
assigned.
Examples of work performed:
To prepare voting machines for elections, which includes preparing
and rotating state, county, and city ballots, inserting ballots,
resetting counters, grouping and compensating ballot straps,
and checking adjustment of machines.
To arrange machines for delivery.
To make minor repairs.
To keep time records.
To prepare election supplies for delivery.
To direct extra help in work on voting machines.
Minimum qualifications:
'� High school graduation and at least seven years' clerical experience,

registration bureau working with voting machines.

Dear Mr. Olson:
The Civil Service Commission, at their meeting of June 13, 1985, approved
Council File 85-775;� which amends Section 3.B, of the Civil Service Rules,
by striking out the title of Storekeeper (Voting Machines) from Grade 27
