RE: Claim against the City of Saint Paul
by irginia Dunn
This case in lves a sixty-two year old woman who fell on he city
sidewalk on ay 26, 1981, at approximately 1860 Laurel Ave ue.
The City had recei ed a complaint on this sidewalk in July 1979
and it was t pora ily patched in November 1979 . In 1984 he
sidewalk was compl tely replaced in that area. Mrs . Dunn ell
at the tempo ary p tch site. According to at least one Pu lic
Works Depart ent r cord, it was intended that this sidewal be
replaced ent ' rely, before 1981.
Mrs. Dunn su taine a comminuted fracture of the right wri t which
was repaired surgi ally, with a metal plate. Her claimed amages
included doc or, h spital bills as well as lost wages. He ortho-
pedic surgeo also opined that she suffered a partial perm nent
disability o the pper extremity.
In my opinio the um of $7, 500 in settlement of this clai is
fair and rea onabl .
