General Sta ement f Duties: Supervises and performs the work of
the transpo tation unit, including routing, bidding, safety and
contract mo itorin ; and performs related duties as required.
Su ervision Receiv d: Works under the supervision of a departmen
director.
Su ervision Exerci ed: Exercises within the unit general
supervision over s bordinate employees.
TYPICAL DUTIES P RFORME
The listed xample may not include all duties performed by all
positions i this lass.
Establishes the ba ic route network and supervises development of
route bid b oks an specifications.
Supervises nd ass sts the transportation staff.
Establishes proced res for eligibility determination according to
current sta e regu ations and School Board policy.
Resolves co plaint regarding routing, discipline, operations and
safety incl ding a propriate disciplinary action if contractors ar
involved.
Mediates an attem ts to resolve disputes between schools and
contractors
Serves as a ember f and resource person to the Transportation
Advisory Co ittee.
Assists spe ial edu ation directors, principals, staffs and the
Police Depa tment t shelter students in emergencies or to locate
missing stu nts.
Develops pr ocols or transporation for special events,
emergencies, early losings and field trips.
_ Develops rec rd kee ing and budget processes in concert with the
accountant t ensur that required data is collected and reported.
Evaluates al accid nts involving contracted busses; maintains
records and akes a propriate corrective action.

KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of State laws, Board of Education policies and
regulations regarding student transportation.
Knowledge of the layout of streets in The City of St Paul,
including areas which present special problems and hazards.
Knowledge of contract bus operations.
Knowledge of student transportation policies and issues in a citv
comparable to St. Paul in size. y
Ability to work under pressure and to deal with people who are
angry and upset.
Ability to deal effectively with parents, contracors, the public,
public agencies and School District personnel.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Two years' experience as a Transporation Coordinator II or
equivalent.
