Whereas, the S�. Paul Audubo Society will be holding its annual Christmas ird
Count on Satur�lay, De ember Oth, 1986;
And Whereas, t�is ye marks the 87th Annual Christmas Bird Count of the
National Audubbn Soc'ety;
And Whereas, t�e Chr'stmas B rd Count involves the hard work, skills, patie ce and
endurance of nlumerou birde who must count each and every bird they see o
hear on the colunt da and w then must tabulate how many species and how m ny
individual birlds wer encou tered;
And Whereas, t�he 198 Chris as Bird Count involved over 38,000 people who
counted over 7I4 mill on ind'vidual birds of 1,262 speci�s in 1,504 differen
Christmas Bird� Count circle in the United States, Canada, Mexico, South
America, Berm�da and West I dies;
And Whereas, �he 198 St. P ul Christmas Bird Count involved 17 observers w o
found 5,873 birds of 30 dif erent species;
Therefore Be ft Reso ved, t e City Council of Saint Paul declares Saturday,
December 20th� 1986, as the official Christmas Bird Count Day in St. Paul;
And Be It Further Re olved, the City Council congratulates the St. Paul Au ubon
Society for s�onsori g and oordinating the Christmas Bird Count and for
providing sci�ntific, recre tional and environmental benefits to our City;
And Be It Fin�lly R olved, the City Council encourages all St. Paul resid nts
and visitors �to be the a ert for birds on Saturday, December 20, 1986 a d to
get involved �n the udubon's Bird Count and other activities.
