The deterioration of the center portion of the north abutment of the Burr Street Bridge Number 90428
over Bush Street and the Union Pacific Railroad requires a lower Posted Load Limit of 5 tons.
ADVANTAGESIFAPPROVED
The bridge can be kept open to traffic with the posted weight limit until continued deterioration prevents
it.
DISADVANTAGESIFAPPROVE
Vehicles heavier than the 5 ton proposed weight limit will require heavier vehicles to detour to another
route. The bridge was load posted to 15 tons per vehicle in 1992.
DISADVANTAGESIFNOTAPPFOVED:
The present load limit of 15 tons will accelerate the failure of the center abutment seat from heavier
vehicular traffic. After failure of the abutment seat, the bridge will have to be closed to all vehicles.
