Section 3 .O1 ( 1) of the Saint Paul Legislative Code is amended to read as
follows

Section 33 05(4) of the Saint Paul Legislative Code is amended to read as

(4) Exi ti g buildings. Within a reasonable time as fixed by a written
I � order f he division of housing and building code enforcement, every
building ex ept groups R-3 and M occupancies heretofore erected shail have
a certi ic te of occupancy issued by the division and posted on the
premises. efore such certificate can be issued, such buildings shall be
inspecte y the division and found to conform to the requirements of the
building c de at the time of construction or at the time of conversion to
its pre en use and to the provisions of the Saint Paul Legislative Codei
except ha enerav efficiencv standards in rental dwellinas and multip}e
dwellin hali be enforced on complaint only. No building which is
required t have a certificate of occupancy shall continue to be occupied
without uc certificate after the time fixed above has elapsed.
Section 4
This or in nce shall take effect thirty days after its passage, approval
and publ ca ion; or on October 1, 1986; whichever is later.
