An Ordinance amending Chapter 25 of the
Saint Paul Legislative Code pertaining
to local taxes on hotels and motels.
THE COUIVCIL OF THE CITY OF SAINT PAUL DOES ORDAIN:
Section l .
That Section 25.02 of the Saint Paul Legislati e Code be
amended to read as follows :
25.02. Tax imposed. There is hereby impos d a tax
of three percent, in addition to the sales tax imposed
by the state of Minnesota, on room charges as erein
defined, except that no tax shall be imposed o rooms
renting for $2. 00 or less per day. The tax sh 11 apply
to sales made on or after March 1 , 1970.
An additional tax of two percent is hereby imp sed on
room charges as herein defined, except that th s ad-
ditional tax shall not apply to a business hav ng less
than 50 lodging rooms. This additional tax sh 11 apply
to sales made on or after July l , 1986.
Section 2.
That Section 25.08 of the Legislative Code be mended to
read as follows :

25.08. Use of tax funds. The taxes collect d pur-
suant to this chapter shall be distributed so s to be
used in the followin manner:
The three percent tax shall be distributed; 750 of the
tax to the General Fund of the City for the ge eral use
of the city, 25% to the city fund servicing t e debt
issued for the remodelling of the Civic Center until
such debt is retired, and thereafter the 25% s all be
deposited to the General Fund of the City.
The two percent tax shall be distributed; 95% o fund
a convention bureau to market and romote the ity as a
tourist or convention center, 5% to the City o Saint
Paul for general expenses .
Section 3.
This ordinance shall take effect and be in for e thirty days
from and after its passage , approval and publicatio .
