TOPIC: A�proval of Memoranda of Agreement re Martin Luthe�r King Day holiday
with I.U.O.E. Local No. 967 (representing custodia�s) and Teamsters
Local No. 320 (representing teacher aides) .

A. PERTINENT FACTS:
1) The Board of Education has, by earlier resoluti n and by adoption
of its 1985-1986 school calendar, made Januar 20, 1986, Ma.rtin
Luther King Day, a holidaq when school is not i session.
2) Most labor agreements with bargaining units o School District
employees have now been amended to incorporate artin Luther King
Day as a paid holiday. ',
3) Two unions are currently involved with the District in
negotiations for new contracts which will cotrer calendar year
1986, and which cannot be expected to produce cC►mpleted contracts
prior to January 20, 1986. They are:
- I.U.O.E. Local No. 967, exclusive r�epresentative for
custodians
- Teamsters Local No. 320, exclusive representative for
teacher aides.
4) Approval of the Memoranda of Agreement cited below will assure
the same treatment of Martin Luther King Day ' for employees in
these two bargaining units as with all other em�bloyee groups.
5) This recommendation is presented by Phyllis E. ,lyers, Negotiator.

B. RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of Education of Inde endent School
District No. 625 approve and adopt Memoranda o Agreement with
I.U.O.E. Local No. 967 representing school custodi s, and Teamsters
Local No. 320, representing teacher aides, whic identify Martin
Luther King Day as a paid holiday, within the gui�lelines stated in
each labor Agreement, effective in January of 1986. I,

MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT
This Memorandum of Agreement is by and between Independent School District
No. 625 and International Union of Operating Engineers Local 967. In
partial settlement of the 1986-1987 negotiations, the ',parties hereto have
agreed as follows:
1. Except as herein modified, the signed 1984-I985 C 1lective Bargaining
Agreement between the parties shall continue to I,be in effect until
full settlement of the 1986-1987 negotiations is r ached.
2. Article XVII of said Agreement shall be replaced with Article RVII
which is attached and made a part hereof. '
It is understood that the above partial settlement sha]�1 be recommended by
the School District Negotiator but is subject to appraval and adoption by
' the Board of Education.

an employee's name must appear on the payroll on any si�t working days of
the nine working days preceding the holiday; or an empldyee's name must
appear oa the payroll the last working day before the holiday and on three
other working days of the nine working days preceding tt�e holiday. In
neither case shall the holiday be counted as a working d,ay for the purposes
of this section. It is further understood that neither I�temporary, emergency
nor other employees not heretofore eligible shall receiv� holiday pay.
