Council CANARV�- DEPARTMENT � X/�� �j� • BLUE - MAVOR . ��'i11e NO. •, (Q —//r Council Resolutian Presented By M'''�'" Referr To Committee: Date Out of ommittee By Date WHEREAS, in 1984 the State Legislature removed ihe lic��.:�i�r• of charitable gambling from local government cont=ol; and WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul has a long history of successfully licensing and enforcing charitable gambling within its jurisdiction; and WHEftEAS, the costs of enforcement must be borne by the City o� Saint Paul without adequate compensation and authorization by the State government ; therefore , be it ��iSOLVED, that the City of Saint Paul supports legislation which exempts charitable gambling in the City of Saint Paul from the jurisdiction of the State Charitable Gambling Board and returns authority for licensing and regulating charitable gambling to the City; and be it FURTHER RESOLVED, that , if no exemption is granted, the City � supports legislation which clarifies the authority of municipalities to inspect and enforce gambling and returns 50qo of the tax revenues generated in the City of Saint Paul to the City for en�orcement purposes.
