of Human Rights Director of the City of St . Paul.
When I submitted my resume, I was forced to do so in haste, as
I received the job announcement the day before the deadline. In

Responsibilities include reviewing discrimin�.tion complaints and investiga-
tions, making determinations of charge validity, negotiating charge settle-
ments.
Work also involves directing and planning community relations programs.
Responsible for developing educational workshops, seminars, etc. designed
to meet special needs in the community. Sponsors forums and training
sessions to increase the participation of protected classes in local
government activities that effect them. �
Consults with local civic organizations and businesses on problems involv-
ing human rights issues and on civil rights law.
Solely responsible for development and implementation of a program to
increase opportunities for minority owned businesses to provide vendor and
contract services wi.th the City of Goldsboro.
ftepresents the City of Goldsboro on numerous boards and committees that
address the needs of protected classes.
Consults with the Personnel Director in developing the City's Affirmative
Action plan and revising the goals.
Advises the City Manager and Board of Aldermen on issues addressed by the
City involving human rights and makes recommendations for policy changes
when appropriate .
Provides staff support to the Human Relations Commission and serves as a
liaison between the Commission, the City Manager, the Board of Aldermen,
and the community. Works with the Commission to develop and implement
special_projects to meet the needs of citizens and to develop programs
designed to foster better community reiations.
Writes proposals for special programs and funding if needed.
Provides affirmative action and equal opportunity training for supervisors
and managers upon request .
Maintains working relationship with local advocacy groups as well as state
and federal agencies involved in human rights .

Serves as advisor to the Mayor's Youth Council.

Monitored enrollment , training, placement, and hiring practices for com-
pliance with federal regulations and the agency's affirmative action policy.
Prepared statistical reports on trainees to reflect affirmative action goal
attainment . These reports were submitted to the Board of Directors, the
state funding agency, and the national OIC office.
Designed an ongoing counseling program that was used as a model by local
OIC programs in the southeast region of the country. Made presentations
on counseling and training to local, state, and regional groups.
Successfully wrote proposals for annual funding. Developed affirmative
action goals and recruitment techniques for such programs .
Supervised and coordinated the delivery of all supportive services for
trainees.
Conducted staff development training and orientation for new staff inembers
and student interns . .
Served as A�ting Director in the absence of the Executive Director.
