WHAT WILL BE ACHIEVED BY TAKING ACTION ON THE ATTACHED MATERIALS? (Purpose/

, ,. . :
.r .. ,:
_ . This will provide for
more timely removal of snow & ice. There is little reason to exempt weekends & holidays from
allotted removal time. People are just as apt to get hurt on these days and for most home-
owners these are days when removal s Rasier ntt hader'. Providing for tagging after two
notices, allows a bad situation to continue for too long. While still requiring one notice
insures that no one will be tagged without notice.
COST/BENEFIT, BUDGETARY AND PERSONNEL IMPACTS ANTICIPATEQ:
These changes will make enforcement easier and will reduce the number of calls required to
remedy a problem. it will also engender more respect for the r irement and lead to more
voluntary compliance. C1f

INTERDEPARTMENTAL MEMORANDUM
February 14, 1986
To: Members of the Public Works Committee
From: Alice Bijjani, Division of Public Health/
.
Re: Ordinance amending the chapter on snow removal
In answer to questions raised at the February 5, 1986 Public Works Committee
meeting:
1) We do not at the present time issue tickets for failure to clear
sidewalks. This is primarily because the limitation preventing
ticketing until the second occurrance makes it too difficult. If the
proposed amendment is passed, we will begin a routine of ticketing
at the same time as we request Public Works to plow the walk.
2) Although we know that additional equipment and crew are needed,
Public Works is in the best position to determine the exact number. ..
