WHEREAS, national health care costs are escalating rapidly, rising from
$75 billion in 1970 to a projected $1 trillion by 1993, and
WHEREAS, said costs are an increasingly critical concern of a11 citizens, and
WHEREAS, Health Vote is organized as a non-partisan campaign to assist citizens
in obtaining information about health alternatives and to provide a forum for
citizens to make their opinions known to policymakers, and
WHEREAS, Health Vote can succees only with the support of business, governmental,
educational and labor community and with the cooperation of local news media,
now therefore, BE IT
RESOLVED, THAT the St. Paul City Council endorses the concept of Health Vote
and encourages commun�.ty coo�exation in creating a vehicle for St. Paul citi.zens to
learn about and comment health caxe costs, and BE IT FURTHER
RESOLVED, that the St. Paul City Council encourages ci.tizens to inform themselves
duxing the Health Vote campaign about health cost issues and to regi.stex their
preferences on cost containment alternatives on Health Vote Day, April 10, 1985.
