To provide the City and County with the skills, motiva�ion, creativity, and enthusiasm of college students. 2. To provide the college student with a valuable work experience in local government and at the same time expose her/him to some of the realistic, pragmatic problems in City and Count� government. 3. To create a liaison between local government and the academic communit�, thereby enabling both to utilize more fully the resaurces of the other. NCxn1, TEIEREFiORE, by mutual agreement of the parties hereto, the following -- - agreement is entered into and made effective as follows: 1. An Urban Corps Intern Work Program shall be carried on under the supervision of an Urban Corps Coordina�or, whose duties shall be as follows: a. Introduce and describe the operational procedures of the Intern Esrogram to the various City and County departments. b. To develop within the City and County departments meaningful internships. c. To be responsibls for the training and orientation of the intzrn's direct supsrvisor. d. To recruit and place worthwhile interns from the various colleg�s under the Urban Corps. 2. The Urban Corps Coordinator shall work under the supervision of the Mayor's Office of Saint Paul. 3. Office space for the Saint Paul Ramsey County Coordinator will be provided by the City. 4. The total administra�ive cost of the tasks and purposes set forth are estimated to be $76,043.00 (Seventy-Six Thousand and Forty Three #�ollars). Of this amount, the County shall pay $3,802.00 (Three Thousand Eight Hundred and Ttao Dollars), and the City shall pay $72,241.00 (Seventy-'I�vo Thousarid and 'ltvo Hundred Forty-One Dallars). _ . � . ry � , �,��.��y� The County will pay said amount to the City beginning January 1, 1985, based on quarterly billings issued by the City. At the end of eacn contract year, the City shall prepare a financial report indicating the � total administrative costs of the services provided under this agreement. Should the total cost to the City be less than that s!.ated above, the City shall return to the County 5� of the unspent sum a� the. expiration of the ag.reerr�ent. Should the total costs to the City i�e more than that stated above, the County shall pay the City 5% of the sum in excess of the total stated above. 5. This Agreement shall terminate D�cember 31, 1985. However, either party may terminate the Agreerr�ent prior to that time upon_ninety days written notice. Should such right of termination be exercised, then only the pro-rata nortion of such installment coming due herein shall be paid or shall the terminating party be liable for. The joint participation in the administration of the program between the City and the County began in 1970. The Agreement allows the City to: 1. Display how local units of government can work together in providing services to the communities they serve. 2. Reduce administrative costs for the City of Saint Paul . 3.
