RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council does hereby consent to
and approve of the formation of the Mayor's Ad Hoc Traffic Safety
Committee, established for the purpose of making recommendations which
will reduce accidents and injuries resulting from not using auto restraint
seat belts and/or driving while under the influence of drugs, including
alcohol.
FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED, that the committee shall include, but not be
limited to:
1 member representing the Saint Paul School Board
1 member representing the Saint Paul Police Department
1 member representing the Mayor's Office
1 member representing the Business Community
1 member representing the Medical Community who is a Medical Doctor
1 member from the Teamsters Union or representing a Driver's Union
1 member representing Ramsey County
1 membe�r representative of the Judicial System
1 member representing the Insurance Industry

RE: FORMATION OF MAYOR'S AD HOC TRAFFIC SAFETY COMMITTEE
Attached is the Council Resolution creating the Mayor's Ad Hoc
Traffic Safety Committee. The request for the formation of
this committee came from the City Safety Committee. On
Friday, September 11, I met with Tony Ackerman, Safety
Coorciinator for the Public Health Department; John Schafer,
Director of the Minnesota Occupant Restraint Program, and
Su�an Palmer of the Minnesota Department of Public Safety to
di�cuss this committee.
The committee is being "established for the purpose of making
recommendations which will reduce accidents and injuries
resulting from not using auto restraint seat belts and/or
driving while under the influence of drugs, including
alcohol. " The City Public Health Division will staff the
committee.
Mayor Latimer requests your consideration and approval of this
