WHEREAS, Vladlen Dozortsev, a resident of Riga�Latvia, is recognized in
the Soviet Union for his contributions as a journalist, poet, novelist and
dramatist, and
WHEREAS, Mr. Dozortsev's work has come to us through the current production
by Acto�s Theatre of his play, "Breakfast With Strangers," said production being
the World Premiere and the first World Premiere of a Soviet work to take place in
America, and
WHEREAS, this production is made possible through a sequence of coauaitments
by individuals in the Soviet Union, at the Eugene 0'Neill Theater Center in
Connecticut and at Actors Theatre to the cultural enrichments available through
international sharing and mutual trust, and
WHEREAS, we are honored to have as guests in our City Vladlen and Natalya
Dozortsev and do celebrate their presence with us, now therefore be it
RESpLVED, that we the City Council of the City of St. Paul do welcome Vladlen
and Natalya Dozortsev to our City with the hope that the richness of spirit conveyed
to us through Mr. Dozortsev's work will be returned to you as you are among us,
and be it further
RESOLVED, that we the City Council of the City of St. Paul do declare Vladlen
and Natalya Dozortsev to be honorary citizens of St. Paul, Minnesota, USA.
