WHER,EAS, The 1982 and 1983 Capital Improvement Budget Program
has financed a project entitled MOUNDS PARK RECREATION CENTER
REHABILITATION in the amounts of $21 , 000 ( 1982 ) and $155, 000
( 198!3 ) ; the site currently known as Mounds Park Elementary
School ; and
WHERI,EAS, The Department of Community Services certifies there
is a' balance left of $16, 117 ( 1982 ) and $155, 000 ( 1983) ,
tota,ling $171 , 117 ; and
WHEREAS, The Housing and Redevelopment Authority has found a
deve'loper willing to convert the school buildings into
housing; and
WHERIEAS, The Mayor has recommended for the 1988 General Fund
Budg�et reduced or alternative programming at nine part-time
recreation centers ; and
WHERIEAS, to carry out the 1988 budget some of the obsolete
recrieation buildings may be demolished, with cleared sites
remaining as Neighborhood Parks ; and
NOW TNEREFORE , the Council of the City of Saint Paul , upon
the �recommendation of the Mayor, requests the Saint Paul
Long-Range Capital Improvement Budget Committee to review the
speclific proposal to reappropriate the $171 , 117 to begin the
proc'�ss of demolition , site regrading and design of site
impriovements for the following locations : Lockwood,
Lafayette, Hamline, Riverside and Mounds .
