Also construct sanitary sewer service wye branches. INITIATING ACTION: This project is being initiated by petition of one property owner who has a failing on-site sewage disposal system. EXISTING CONDITIONS: The existing street is an unimproved street with a right-of-way width of 66' and is serviced by temporary gas and water. Sanitary sewer exists in Whitall Street. The east side of Bradley Street in this area slopes away from the street elevation and cannot be serviced by this improvement. PROPOSED IMPROVEMENTS: The proposal is to extend the public sanitary sewer from the Whitehall and Bradley intersection for a distance of 300' northerly to serve the petitioned property. ALTERNATIVES• The only alternative available is do nothing, but this would only abet a potential health hazard because of the existing septic tank systems and would not encourage the development of the remaining unimproved lots abutting the described alignment. Further, it would be difficult for the existing house improvements to obtain mortgage financing. ADVERSE EFFECTS: There are no adverse effects anticipated because of this project. COST ESTIMATE• Construction $12 , 125. 00 Engineering & Inspection 1, 980. 0 Valuation & Assessment Services 445 . 00 Total $14 , 55U. 00 ESTIMP.TED FIT?ANCING: Direct Assessments $ 4 , 30. 00 City Aid 1U, 250. 00 $14 , 550. 00 , ----- - / __, ___._ __ _ __ _.. (, ' 1 / J . _ The assessment financing is based on an estimated assessment rate of $24 . 00 per assessable foot. TIME SCHEDULE• If this project is approved, construction could begin and be completed during the 1987 construction season. SOURCE OF ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: For additional information, contact Roy Bredahl at 6138 or Bill Williams at 6006. RECOMMENDATION• The engineering recommendation is that this improvement be approved. Respectfully submitted, Donald E.
