RESOLUTION OF COMMENDATION OF THE
COMMISSIONERS AND STAFF OF THE
PORT AUTHORITY
WHEREAS , the development activities of the Saint Paul Port
Authority have contributed substantially to sustaining emnloyment
opportunity in Saint Paul during a period of upheaval in the
national economy which impacted the City by the loss of several
large and long time employers of its residents ; and
WHEREAS , the Port Authority has participated in the revit-
alization of downtown Saint Paul and in its renascence as a place
to live, taork, to shop and be entertained thereby enhancing the
quality of life in the community; and
�,1HEREAS, the activities of the Port Authority have nreserved
and expanded the City' s non-residential tax base and the source of
City revenue available to finance necessary public services ; and
WHEREAS, these Port Authority activities have been carried
out by a competent and dedicated staff under the policy direction
of its Roard of Commissioners , five of whom are citizen members
who have contributed freely of their time and knowledge; Now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Saint Paul hereby
expresses its appreciation and commendation to the commissioners
and staff of the Port Authority of the City of Saint Paul for their
contribution to the City and to the welfare and wellbeing of its
citizens .
