87-751 WMITE - CITV CLERK � PINK - FINANCE COVnCII P CANqRV -�OEPARTMENT G I TY OF SA I NT PA U L File NO• `� � ��� BtiUE - MAVOR � Council Resolution - ,� �=�.` Y �o � Presen ed By � Referred To ����'✓ Committee: Date � �� Out of Committee By Date WHEREAS, Ramsey County has adopted a master plan for solid waste management and has sent the plan for review to the Metro- politan Council of the Twin Cities Area; and WHEREAS, the City Council endorses Ramsey County' s goals for solid waste abatement as stated in the master plan; and WHEREAS, Ramsey County master plan goals for trash collection, source separation (especially curbside and dropoff recycling and composting) , and waste reduction may not be achieved without action by the City of Saint Paul; and WHEREAS, Saint Paul has no citywide policy and plan for solid waste abatement by residential, commercial and industrial, and institutional sectors, although recycling, composting, and other activities are taking place in many neighborhoods; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, that the City Council requests the Mayor to establish a citizen solid waste management task force charged with the re- sponsibility of: 1. Making recommendations to the Mayor and City Council on appropriate policies, plans and activities for solid waste management. 2 . Activities needed to meet solid waste abatement goals of Ramsey County' s master plan. One representative of a landfill or an alternative method of disposal. 4 . One representative of Ramsey County. 5 . Two members of Ramsey County' s Solid Waste Management Advisory Committee. 6 . Three members of the general public; be it FURTHER RESOLVED, that the task force shall receive staff support from Council Research and requests additional support and technical assistance from Public Works and Community Services, as needed; be it FINALLY RESOLVED, that the task force shall make an interim report to the Mayor and City Council no later than 90 days after appointment.
