1 WI�REAS, the Saint Paul Housing Information Office is a Hi3D-approved Housing Counseling Agency; and
2 WHEREAS, during 1997, Saint Paul Housing Infoxmation Office provided housing counseling to 234 Saint Paul
3 residents in order to prevent mortgage foreclosures; and
4 WHEREAS, during 1998, the Saint Paul Housing Information Office worked with the Family Housing Fund to
5 provide mortgage foreclosure prevention counseling to Saint Paul residents.
NOW BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council ofthe City of Saint Paul authorizes the Saint Paul Housing Information
Office to execute a contract with Family Housing Fund for the period of January 1, 1998 to December 31, 1998.
8 FINALLY, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Saint Paul authorizes the Saint Paul Housing
9 Information O�ce to accept a$4Q000 payment from the Family Housing Fund which recognizes a HUD Housing
10 Counseling Grant of $7,000 and a Family Housing Fund contribution of $34,000 for HIO program administration
11 costs and emergency assistance funds. � _

HIO worked with Family Housing Fund to provide mortgage foreclosure prevention housing counseling to Saint
Paul families. This resolution authorizes a contractual agreement with the Family Housing Fund to accept a$40,000
reimbursement for HIO services provided during 1998.
ADVANTAGES IF APPROVED:
Under a contractuat agreement, HIO generated $40,000 for mortgage foreclosure prevention counseling services
provided to St. Paul homeowners.
DISADVANTAGES II+APPROVED:
None.
D7SADVANTAGES IF NOT APPROVF.D:
The City would lack funds generated by HIO for housing counseling services. Furthermore, St. Paul homeowners
would lack the assistance needed to prevent mortgage foreclosures.
