WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul has an interest in protecting its
residents from injury due to fires; and
�'7HEREAS, hardwire smoke detectors are more reliable than battery-
powered smoke detectors; and
�aHEREAS, hardwire smoke detector� have saved the lives of
Sai�t Paul residents; aiZd
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul hardwire smoke detector program has been an
effective fire prevention program; and
WHER�AS, it has been determined th�.t the Saint Paul smoke
detector ordinance is unenforceable until the City receives
le�islative reauthorization;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT R�;SOLVED, that the City of Saint Paul
propose le�islation to reauthorize its ability to enforce its
hardwire smoke detector ordinance.
