ASSESSMENTS SUPERVISOR
WHAT WILL BE ACHIEVED BY TAKING ACTION ON THE ATTACHED MATERIALS?
(Purpose/Rationale) :
This resolution changes the rate of pay for the title "Assessments
Supervisor" (formerly called "Supervisor of Assessments") due to the
results of a classification study which was requested by the
incumbent and supported by the Department of Finance and Management
Services.
COST/BENEFIT. BUDGETARY. AND PERSONNEL IMPACTS ANTICIPATED
Salary information is as follows:
Base Incumbent's 5-year
Rate Salary Rate
Salary ("D" step) Salary
------- ----------- --------
Current Annually @ grade 12: $28,182 $31,977 $37,022
Proposed Annually @ grade 17: $32,679 $37,068 $42,931
------- ----------- ---------
Annual $ Increase: $ 4,497 $ 5,091 $ 5,909
  --
Annual $ Increase: 16 16$ 16
— a__
The additional salary cost for the remainder of 1988 will be
approximately $849.00, assuming that the salary change will be
effective November 1, 1988.
The benefit to the City from this resolution will be the
establishment of equitable compensation for this single-incumbent
title. It should be noted that this division eliminated the position
of Civil Engineer--Valuation and Assessments, with an annual salary
of $53,881 (plus fringe benefits) , in June of 1987. The duties of
that position were divided among three section managers: the Real
Estate Manager, the Right-of-Way Engineer, and the Assessments
Supervisor. Changes to the salaries of the other two section
managers have already been implemented, so no further personnel
impact is anticipated. Thus, the savings of $53,881 will be used in
the following manner:
$ 4,864 = annual increase to Right-of-Way Engineer salary
1,460 — annual increase to Real Estate Manager salary
5,091 — proposed annual increase to Assessments Supervisor salary
41,970 — annual salary for Chief Internal Auditor position
$53,385 — TOTAL to be applied to $53,881.
$53,881
-53,385
$ 496 = Remains as savings to the City in 1988.
