WI�REAS, Saint Paul is in the process of restoring a system of wetlands at Phalen Village and
�'VHEREAS, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is offering Environmental
Partnerships Grants up to $20,000 to encourage environmental service projects and related
education activities through public and private partnerships, and
WHEREAS, this grant will be used to engage youth, senior citizens, teachers, schools, artists,
neighborhood business and East side residents in the development of educational related
activities to increase the community's awazeness, understanding and appreciation of this vital
urban ecosystem, and
WHEREAS, Saint Paul, through the Department of Public Works wiil partner with the Ran�sey-
Washington Metro Watershed District, the Greater Saint Paul Retired and Senior Volunteer
Program, the North East Neighborhoods Development Corporation and the Saint Paul Public
Schools to foster neighborhood and school involvement in the wetland restorations at Phalen
Village and to develop this azea as an environmental education resource.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the City of Saint Paul that the City authorizes the
Department of Public Works to apply for this grant, and be it
FINALLY RESOLVED, by the City of Saint Paul that Tom Eggum, Public Works Director, or his
designee be authorized to submit the application and to serve as the contact person
