WHEREAS, several district Councils are participating in the National "Night Out
Against Crime" night on Tuesday, August 9, 1988; and
WHEREAS, this year marks the 5th. annual National Night Out Against Crime of the
National Night Out Against Crime Organization; and
WHEREAS, burglary has gone down by 20 percent compared to the same time period
last year; and
WHEREAS, the Police Department believes much of this reduction can be attributed
to the increased cooperation between neighborhood residents and the Department; and
WHEREAS, Crime Prevention Block Clubs are critical to increasing neighborhood
awareness of crime and crime prevention; and
WHEREAS, the National Night Out Against Crime leads to increased involvement
in crime prevention block clubs; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council declares the evening of August 9th.
as a City-wide participatative observation for "Night Out Against Crime"; and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council commends and congratulates
our neighborhoods for their accomplishments in crime prevention.
