of Compensation.
RESOLVED, that the rate of p y for the title of Zoning Aide be set
at the rate set forth in Grade 25 Section ID2, of the Technical Standard
Ranges in the Salary Plan and Rat s of Compensation; and be it
FINALLY RESOLVED, that this esolution shall take effect and be in
force on the first pay period af er the passage, approval, and publication
of this resolution.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
General Statement of Duties: Perf rms entry level technical work
conducting routine inspections to etermine compliance with zoning code and
related regulations; and performs elated duties as required.
Supervision Received: Works under the general and technical supervision
of a unit head. May receive techni al direction from a higher level zoning
technician.
Supervision Exercised: None
TYPICAL DUTIES PERFORMED
The listed examples may not include all the duties performed by all positions
in this class.
Investigates routine zoning compl nts for zoning compliance.
Surveys neighborhoods and enforces zoning code using a proactive approach.
Assists in the measurement of sig , setbacks, floor area, and related items.
Inspects sites for compliance wit approved site plans.
Issues written orders requiring c rrection of violations.
Answers questions regarding zonin code and explains corrections needed for
compliance with code.
Issues tags to violators for non- ompliance with written orders.
Prepares appropriate reports and aintains accurate records.
Determines ownership of property nd determines property information.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Working knowledge of zoning regul tions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Forty-five credit hours in relate courses leading to an associate degree in
building inspection or architectu e or a related degree; or two years'
experience in doing inspections a the level of a Fire Aide or Environmental
Health Aide. Must possess a valid Minnesota Class B driver's license or
equivalent out-of-state driver's icense with no suspension or revocations
within the two-year period prior o the date of the examination (suspensions for
parking-related offenses excluded) .

1. What will be achieved:
This resolution will establish he rate of pay to a new
classification entitled Zoning ide. This title was created at the
request of the Department of Co unity Services to be located in the
Building Inspection and Design ivision.
2. Cost/Benefit, Budgetary an Personnel Impacts:
This will be a single incumbant classification. The position is
anticipated to be filled in Jun or July of 1988. Funds for this
position are already approved i the 1988 Budget. The annual salary
will be approximately $20,586 a the base rate and $25,037 at the
five-year step (1988 rates) . e salary for this position for the
remainder of 1988 would be appr ximately $11,481, using 1988 rates
and assuming someone is hired a the base rate and starts working in
mid-June of 1988. The establis ement of this title is not
anticipated to impact the salar of any other title.
