WHEREAS, the Division of Parks and Recreation has submitted the
following project-application to the Minnesota Department of
Natural Resources (DNR) for the referenced grant program:
National Recreation tRAIL Proaram
Como Park, Phalen Park and Crosby Farm Ski Trails - Purchase
of an improved trail groomer to extend the ski season and
addition of asphalt pathways to expand the trail systems,
WHEREAS, upon review of the pre-applications, the DNR has
determined that the referenced project is eligible for grant
funding considerations, and
WHEREAS, if the grant is awarded, funding will become available
for project implementation; now, therefore,
13 BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council authorizes the proper city
14 officials to submit the referenced grant application to the DNR,
15 and
16 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that upon grant award from the DNR, a
17 resolution to accept grant funding, including project budget,
18 will be submitted for City Council review and approval.

This grant is inYended to purchase an improved "Tictac" ski trail groomer and expand the asphalt pathways in Como
Park, Phalen Park and Crosby Farm.
AOVANTAGESiF APPROVED:
The new trail groomer will be able to maintain ski trails when there is only four inches of snow on the ground, whereas
the current trail groomer requires eight to ten inches of snow. This will extend the ski season. The addition of asphalt
pathways to Como Park, Phalen Park and Crosby farms will expand the existing ski trail system in those areas.
