An Administrati e Resolution establishing a
premium pay for Police Officer in the Salary
Plan and Rates f Compensation and establishing
a premium pay f r work performed in a specific
unit.
RESOLVED, that the Salary Plan and Rates of Compensation be amended in
Section III, Special Allowance , by inserting immediately after Subsection
K, the following:
L There shall be a pre ium payment of $1.00 per hour to
any employee holding the title of Police Officer for
time assigned to the Narcotics Unit.

(Purpose/Rationale) :
This resolution will establi h a premium pay for Police Officers who
work in the Narcotics Unit. The purpose of the premium pay is to
attract a larger pool of app icants (City Police Officers) to this
particular unit. It is curr ntly a very difficult assignment to
fill.
COST BENEFIT BUDGETARY AND PERSONNEL IMPACTS ANTICIPATE :
To create an incentive to wo k in the narcotics unit for the purpose
of increasing the pool of po sible applicants. There will be six
employees eligible for this remium at any one time. The total
annual cost to the City will e approximately $12,480.00 assuming all
six positions are filled yea -round. This resolution will impact the
budget for the remainder of 988 and for all of 1989.
