WHEREAS, the months of March, April and May contain events
of major significance in t e Jewish calendar - Passover, the
anniversary of the Warsaw Gh tto Uprising, Solidarity Sunday for
Soviet Jewry, and Jerusalem ay; and
WHEREAS, the City Cou cil recognizes that an understanding
of the heritage of all Ameri an ethnic groups contributes to the
unity of our country; and
WHEREAS, intergroup u derstanding can be further fostered
through an appreciation of ulture, history, and traditions of
the Jewish community and the contributions of Jews to our country
and society, now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the St. Pau City Council that the week of April
17, 1988, through April 2 , 1988, is designated as "Jewish
Heritage Week" and people an interested organizations are called
upon to observe the week wit appropriate ceremonies, activities
and programs.
