The Cabinet recommended the file be referred t your committee, inasmuch as the implications appear to be financia . Information provided at our meetin indicated several cities are considering the consolidation of t eir private pension plans with PERA. There appears to be two main reaso s for this movement. One is the possibility of the city saving mon y by the transfer. The second, and equally important issue, is that o the cities simply wanting to get away from the private pension admi istrators - an area which has been preempted by the State Legislature It may also be possible to eliminate all administrative costs now associated with the current pension plans.
