The City of Saint Paul is pledging suppo t for the 1988 Savings Bond Program.
WHEREAS, The 1988 campaign theme "Invest ent of Champions" relates to the Minnesota
Twins effort in becoming world champions and will reflect Saint Paul's commitment
and energy to have a championship 1988 c mpaign through a successful team effort; and
WHEREAS, Saint Paul's 1988 campaign goal is to increase new savers by 21 percent
and the allotment of current bond holder by 21 percent; and
WHEREAS, General Mills is supporting Sa' t Paul's campaign effort by donating a
Minnesota Twins autographed world serie issue Wheaties box to each city employee
with a new or increased bond payroll de ction; and
WHEREAS, By promoting thrift, the savin s bond program contributes to the economic
security of city employees through comp titive rates, unique tax advantages, safety
and security; and
WHEREAS, That the Mayor and all city de artmen� heads/division managers are encouraged
to take a leadership role in efforts to meet or exceed Saint Paul's goal through their
commitment, cooperation and the energy f their coordinators and canvassers; and
WHEREAS, Mayor Latimer has appointed Ru s Polansky (Division Manager-Saint Paul
Fire Department) to manage the 1988 Sav ngs Bond Campaign which will be held
from May 2-16, 1988; now therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, The City Council offers support to. the 19$8 Saint Pau1. S�v�ngs_ Bond
Program, and it's goals; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, The City Counc encourages all City of Saint Paul employees
to take active participation in coordi tion with appointed departmental/division
coordinators and canvassers.
