Improve SHEPARD ROAD from Gann n Road to Elway Street by placing a
bituminous overlay and doing all other work necessary to complete said
improvement (City Project 88-P-1033)
EXISTING CONDITIONS
The divided roadway consists of two ' or 26' concrete roadways with
concrete curbing. A short section of t e eastbound lane was constructed
with bituminous to allow future settlem nt. The settlement has been
filled and appears to have stopped. A'short section of east and westbound
lanes adjacent to new condominiums ere overlayed privately by permit.
This was done to reduce some of the raffic noise. There is a bituminous
walWbike trail on the south side of the project. The ornamental lighting
for the area is adequate.
PROPOSEDIMPROVEMENT
The proposal calls for placing a 2 3/4" overlay on the existing road. All
work would be done under traffic.
ALTERNATE
Do nothing. This would allow the det rioration to continue and soon would
have to be considered for major reco struction.
ADVERSE EFFECTS �
Construction will be done under traffi and will cause a few minor traffic
delays.
pOSITIVE EFFECTS � j
The bituminous overlay will improve t e riding quatity, reduce traffic
noise, extend the life of the pavement and reduce maintenance costs.
