WHEREAS, Volunteers of Ameri a is Minnesota' s largest human
service organization and has b en helping those in need for 92
years; and
WHEREAS, during its previous iscal year Volunteers of America
provided service to 13, 488 peo le, including providing food and
clothing, visiting the sick and imprisoned, and assisting
children in developing life ski ls; and
WHEREAS, the Volunteers of Am rica' s continuing mission is to
provide material and spiritu 1 assistance to people in need,
regardless of race or creed, hrough dedication to serving the
changing needs of the communiti s in which they work; and
WHEREAS, Tuesday, March 8th commemorates the founding of
Volunteers of America on March , 1896; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED that the Mayor and ouncil of the City of St. Paul
recognizes the week of March 6 13, 1988 as Volunteers of America
Week; and be it further
RESOLVED, that the Mayor and Council supports the continuing
efforts of the Volunteers of America, and, on behalf of all
citizens of St. Paul, congrat lates them for their success and
commitment to service.
