99-1226ORIGINAL Presented By Referred To Committee: Date 3 WHEREAS, the scheduling and hosting of inaugural activities by the City of Saint Paul 4 to celebrate and acknowledge the election of council members, particularly to the four-year terms S now provided by the Charter, serves a public purpose by emphasizing the importance of public 6 service by elective officials; now, therefore, be it 8 RESOLVED, that council members are hereby authorized as required by Section 41.04 of 9 the Saint Paul Administrative Code solicit funds or property for the foregoing purposes; and, be 10 it 11 12 FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City of Saint Paul hereby accepts, as permitted and 13 aixthorized by Section 41.03 of the Saint Paul Administrative Code, such money and in-kind gifts 14 as may be donated by non-government or private sources for the above purposes; and, be it 1S 16 1� 18 19 20 21 22 FINALLY RESOLVED, that the amounts received shall be deposited in the city treasury in such accounts as will allow them to be expended for the purpose of paying the costs of an inaugural ball and related festivities for the council members who have been elected to the council in the November 2, 1999, general election.
