Public Works will reconstruct some ex sting sidewalk that is 6-feet wide down to S feet in all cases where this width is practical. This �maller width is to keep t}i assessment at the lowest rate posaible. In the event you and y ur neighbors prefer the existing width and are willing to accept t e higher assessment rate, please contact the Sidewalk Division a 298-4255 to request your preference. All new sidewalks will e constructed 5-feet wide. Rates for reconstru tion af sidewalks wider than 5 feet are prorated. For example: 6-fee wide sidewalk -- S7.80/front foot; 10-foot wide sidewalk -- $13.00/ ront foot. All corner resident al properties will receive a credit up to the - first 150 feet of n w or reconstructed sidewalk along and abutting the "long side" of he property. COMMERCIAL rates ( 11 property other than reaidential): 100 percent o actual cost estimated to be approximately $4.00 per square fo t of walk constructed. If the property has area- ways under th sidewalk that need to be eliminated, that cost will be asses ed in acldition to the sidew�lk assessments.
