INITIATING ACTION This project was initiated at the req st of the Department of Planning and Economic Development. EXISTING CONDITIONS Market Street has a right-of-way wid h 70 feet and a pavement width of 46 feet. The roadway is in fair co dit n and is constructed of bituminous surfacing on concrete ba e. The sidewalk is in fair condition and will be replaced. The curb on th est side is granite and the curb on the East side is integral with the wal . here are two globe type lights at the corner of Fifth Street and one be t s raw type light in the center of the block. The block to the South of hi proposal is a brick street that was constructed in 1984 along the th o her streets around Rice Park. PROPOSED IMPROVEMENTS We are proposing to remove the exis in bituminous surfacing and concrete base and construct a new b s and a brick surface to match the streets constructed around Rice Park T e granite curb will be reused. The majority of the sidewalk will be r pl ed. Globe lighting, trees and tree planters will also be installed. TIME SCHEDULE This proposal is scheduled to begin in ugust of 1989 and be substantially completed by freeze up this fall. INITIATING ACTION This project was initiated at the reque o the Department of Planning and Economic Development. EXISTING CONDITIONS Market Street has a right-of-way width of 0 feet and a pavement width of 46 feet. The roadway is in fair cond tio and is constructed of bituminous surfacing on concrete bas . he sidewalk is in fair condition and will be replaced. The curb on the e t side is granite and the curb on the East side is integral with the walk. i,Th re are two globe type lights at the corner of Fifth Street and one bent str w type light in the center of the block. The block to the South of th s roposal is a brick street that was constructed in 1984 along the the�ot r streets around Rice Park.
