temperature variations, etc, These prob em occur an a citywi e level and must be addressed
and corrected on an annuaTbasis. Left nc nrected, the sidew lk condition would worsen to
a state where it would be rendered unus bl and subJect to in reased pedestrian inJuries from
falls and possible litigations. � ;

The community will benefit from this pr Je t because it will Iovide safe defect free side-
walks for its many citizens. The sidewa k ontracts are execu �ed by private contractors, so
it follows that private sector jobs are cr ated as a result o Ithis activity.

Historicatly, the sidewalk reconstructi ns have created negat e feedback in the area of
construction procedure and assessment� lm ly stated, propert owners detest assessments,
and despite the fact up to one-half fih� as essment is City su idized, it still remains
controversial ,

This option would allow the infrastruct re of sidewalk stock deteriorate, which in turn,
will generate more personal inJury suit , ltimately resultin in the expenditure of larger
dollar amounts in eventual repalrs and/ r eplacement, as wel as claim payouts.
