WHEREAS, Michael D. Ma kuson, a Sergeant in the St. Paul
Police Department, died on Ma ch 9, 1989; and
WHEREAS, at the ti e f his death, Sergeant Markuson' s
service as . a police offi er together with accumulated unused
sick leave, exceeded 20 ye rs and
WHEREAS, Sergeant M rk son' s accumulated sick leave also
exceeded 80 days.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT
RESOLVED, that the ou cil of the City of St. Paul hereby
approves severance pay for Se geant Michael Markuson, payable to
his estate, in the amoun o $4, 000. 00 which amount represents
the maximum severance pay va' lable to an employee with 20 years
service and 80 days of acc u ated sick leave credits, provided,
however, that this appr va of severance pay shall not be
considered a precedent in other cases involving deceased
employees.
