WHEREAS, The City of Saint Paul is the owner of certain lands described as
Blocks 1 and 2, Barclay Estates, kno n s Burns Avenue Park; and
WHEREAS, Burns Avenue Park was cq ired in 1980 with a grant from Target
Stores, Inc. and Target also provide f nds to assist with development of this
neighborhood park; and
WHEREAS, Burns Avenue Park is u ed extensively by neighborhood residents and
is often overcrowded; and
WHEREAS, a parcel immediately a ja ent to Burns Avenue Park, described as
all of Lot 4 and the east 60 feet of th south 120 feet of Lot 3 and except the
south 150 feet, the east 120 feet of Lo 3, Block 34, Auditor's Subdivision
No. 62 is currently for sale; and
WHEREAS, Target Stores has indi at d a willingness to provide a grant to
the City of Saint Paul for acquisiti n nd development of said parcel in the
amount of $30,000 for use as passive pa k space; and
WHEREAS, The Department of Comm ni Services, Division of Parks and
Recreation expects to apply for said gr nt from Target Store, Inc. and to utilize
the grant to acquire and develop sai p rcel ; and
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, aint Paul City Council that the proper
City officials are hereby authorized to submit a grant application to Target
Stores Inc. for the addition to Burn A nue Park; and
FURTHER RESOLVED, that the prop r ity officials are authorized to execute
such agreements as may be necessary nd to implement the Burns Avenue Park
Addition project; and
