WHEREAS, the C ty of Minneapolis has invited the City of Saint Paul to �ointly
� sponsor a tour of ci y homes on May 6 and 7, 1989; and
�' WHEREAS, such tour presents a good opportunity to promote Saint Paul as a
�� good place to live a d as a city of diverse homes and neighborhoods; and
WHEREAS, funds are needed to pay the costs necessary to promote the home tour;
and
WHEREAS, staff, of the Department of Planning and Economic Development intend
to solicit funds fro firms in the real estate industry to help defray the costs of
the home tour:

NOW, THEREFOR , BE IT RESOLVED, THAT:
1. The Cit Council approves the above changes to the 1989 budget; and
2. In comp iance with Section 41.04 of the Saint Paul Administrative Code
relatin to solicitations, the City Council designates Mary Tingerthal,
PED Dep ty Director-Housing Division, as authorized to solicit funds on
behalf f this city-sponsored function. The dates of solicitation for
this pro'ect shall be from February 1, 1989 to May 30, 1989.

Re: Des�gnation of Mary Tingerthal to solicit funds for
Pla ning and Economic Development
I 've reviewed the materials attached to Green Sheet No. 014824,
which include a request to designate Mary Tingerthal to solicit
funds. The ouncil Resolution appears to contain all of the
elements ne essary under sec. 41. 04 of the St. Paul
Administrativ Code except the dates of the solicitation. I
suggest that sentence be added stating to the effect that the
dates of soli itation for this project shall be from r���V to
5-.30-`�`�. Upon passage of the budget amendment by the council and
� approval by t e mayor all of the requirements of sec. 41. 04 will
be met.
My only quest on in this matter is, is this any different where
PED solicits real estate agencies, than police officers
soliciting ba owners? That's a question, not a statement,
because I rea ly don't know the answer.
The mayor will not need a letter to Al in this case because it is
a budget ame dment, and the designation is included in the
resolution. owever, I need some notification if this resolution
is passed sin e I am trying (so far without the time) to set up a
master list of� all people eligible to solicit in the city.
