99-09flRIGINAL Presented by Referred To Committee Date 1 WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Housing Informa6on Office, as a certified H[TD-housing counseling agency, served 2 Saint Paul residents of ail incomes since 1480; and 3 WI�REAS, during 1997, Saint Paul Housing Information Office provided housing counseling to 234 Saint Paul 4 residents in order to prevent mortgage foreclosures; and WT-�REAS, incoordinarionwithRamsey County Attorney's Office, Ramsey CountyHousing Court, andthe Saint Paui Police DegartxnenYs FORCE unit, the Saint Paul Housing Information Office's comprehensive housing counseling program also includes providing training to Saint Paul landlords in an effort to preserve affordable housing; and � WHEREAS, on August 3, 1998, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HCTD) recertified the 10 Saint Paul Housing Information O�ce as a FIUD-approved Housing Counseling Agency. 11 WFIEREAS, Councii File 98-512 authorized the Saint Paul Housing Information Office to submit a Hi7D housing 12 counseling grant request for the piuposes of providing mortgage foreclosure prevention counseling and landlord 13 training. 14 NOW BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Saint Paul authorizes the Saint Paul Housing Information 15 Office to accept a$27, 71b grant awarded by U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. 16 BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED, that the Council ofthe City of Saint Paul authorizes the Director of the Saint Paul 17 Housing Information Office to execute agreements, as necessary to implement this HUD gr�nt award.
