WHEREAS, the f r and exper i ence of sexua 1 assau 1 t/can destroy pub i i c

WHEREAS, in 1987, there were 1445 rapes reported in the State of Minnesota,
and
WHEREAS, the pre ention of sexual violence is the responsibility of the
of the State and each individual community, and
WHEREAS, the vic ims of sexual violence should be provided crisis help
through medical services. counseling, and protection from further
victimizati n, and
WHEREAS, the Min esota Attorney Generat has appointed a Task Force on the
Prevention f Sexual Violence Against Women to propose ways to reduce
the threat f sexual violence and to provide services to victims of
sexual viol nce, and
FINALLY WHEREAS, the Attorney General 's Task Force on the Prevention of
Sexual Viol nce Against Women has completed a report giving
recommendat ons for offender control , to provide services to
victims/sur ivors of sexual vioTence, and on educationJprevention
of sexual v olence and has drafted comprehensive legislation to
prevent sex ai violence, therefore be it
RESOIVED, that the Council of the City of Saint Paul supports the
recortmendat'ons and the proposed legislation of Attorney General
Humphrey ar sing out of the recomrnendations of the Task Force on the
Prevention f Sexual Violence Against Women, and therefore be it

FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council o� the C�.ty of Saint Paul directs the
Mayor's Adm nistration to requzrc� t:z� appropriate City departments
and divisio s to implement the �ity Council's intent to show its
suppor� of he recommendations and proposed legislation, and including
the City Co cil's support for state funding for victims, witness
advocacy pr rams for victims of sexual assault or domestic abuse; �,

FINALLY RESOLVED,I that the Council of the City of Saint Paul directs the
Mayor's Adm'nistration to require the appropriate City departments
and divisio s to forward and implement the City Council's support
to the Sain Paul Legislative Delegation.
